What to do about server version 2?

When I try to connect, I get an

I/O Error: Connection Failed
Server version 2 is currently not supported.

I found the ticket:

http://trac.cyberduck.ch/ticket/1224

but that doesn't help me :???: . My University help(less)desk says "we just went to SFTP, so I doubt it's changing anytime soon".

I don't mind lobbying higher up, but I couldn't find any information on how old "Server version 2" is. Does anyone have information on when "Server version 3" came out that I can use as leverage? Also, why would version 2 be just dropped? Does it have security holes?

Any other suggestions?

Can't connect - Incorrectly reports server version 2

So, I found out my University *is* using SFTP version 3. For some reason Cyberduck gives the message:

I/O Error: Connection Failed
Server version 2 is currently not supported.

This is new in version 2.8.

I think this is a bug.

Yes it does. We do have SunOS 5.9, so that looks like my problem.

Hope 2.8.1 comes out soon!

Wait a minute! You closed the ticket with:
* status changed from assigned to closed.
* resolution set to wontfix.

This is because we now use the SSH implementation from http://www.ganymed.ethz.ch/ssh2/ which only supports SFTP as of version 3. Note that this is not the same as the SSH protocol version in sshd_config.
But if I SFTP in via the terminal to the server and type "version", I get back "protocol version 3". Why is this not a bug or an item that won't be fixed? I don't know what the "sshd_config" is, but Cyberduck at the very least is reporting that the server is using SFTP v2 when the server is telling me SFTP v3. Isn't that a bug?

Sorry I'm posting here, but I don't know how to reply to the closed ticket (and I love my Cyberduck).

Also, a short hop and a skip from the ganymed link I find, "the work on the Ganymed code has been discontinued". Should we assume that the Trilead code (continuation of Ganymed) will be incorperated?

Thanks,
S-

Please login to http://trac.cyberduck.ch/login and reopen the ticket. I will have a second look into the issue then.

As for Ganymed, I will move to its successor Trilead for the next major revision. Currently there is not much of a difference between the two builds.
