Continuous Login Errors!

Unfortunately I had to do an erase and install and download Cyberduck again. However now I can't access any of the FTP folders I used to be able to get to...it's fine in Dreamweaver etc, so definitely not a password issue. It's happened before, where all my bookmarks stopped working, ie Login Failed, but when I re-installed Cyberduck they worked again. This time no luck. Any thoughts at all? Pretty sure it's not Firewall as I disabled it. I'm running OS 10.4.9

a few things to try

Hi cyberben,

The fact that you reinstalled Cyberduck might suggest that you have erased a pref file or something, BUT I've had the same issue with my bookmarks after simply updating to CD 2.8.2.

I assumed it was the passwords but for fun I tried retyping the Username into the login box and the same password and it worked! Subsequent logins have been fine. There seems to be a bug with the username that is prefilled in the Login box by the Bookmark.

If this doesn't work for you there was another weird thing that worked for me. I discovered that if I switch to my web browser and connect to my website administration (Cpanel or other) or CMS then go back to Cyberduck and try connecting to the FTP server for that website it worked for most of my websites. This also fixed the problem for subsequent log-ins. I have no idea why this works but I can cancel out the OSX firewall and I don't think it's the Keychain app.

Good luck.

I'm getting log in errors too

it says "no login credentials could be found in the Keychain", then when I manually type the passwd it says failed. then I tried again and it worked.

I tried another book mark and the same thing:
"no login credentials could be found in the Keychain", then I manually typed the passwd and it says "login authentication failed", then it said failed again... then I checked my gmail, then it worked?

not a clear step by step, but something is definately wrong.... I dont want to be opening my keychain, then loging in 4 times, then switching windows/applications, the logging in again each time I (first? with this upgrade) try to access one of my *many* site I manage with cyber duck!

Please let me know there is a fix? :)

Same here: after updating to V2.8.2, no login with my existing bookmarks is possible ...

Also if I try to type all the login information "by hand".

So for me, V2.8.2 can't be used, at all ...

Is there a workaround (maybe downgrade?)?

udo wrote:Also if I try to type all the login information "by hand".
In the meanwhile I got it work by typing the login informations 2 to 3 times completely "by hand" (also not by using the clipboard).
I can't reproduce it exactly, but I think it's a problem with the default values of the dialog fields and maybe additionally with the handling of the clipboard content ...

upgraded cyberduck and lost password

I've upgraded to the the latest version of cyberduck and it was supposed to save all my data. It is asking for a password (which I don't remember) and I cannot log onto my host. Does cyberduck have any access to old passwords? where do I proceed? I need to be able to access my files online :( HELP!!!

Same Problem Here Since Upgrade

Hey, folks:

I just had the same problem, and overcame it by repeatedly entering my passwords, and quitting and restarting Cyberduck a few times, until they finally went through. This is definitely a Cyberduck upgrade issue, as the passwords themselves haven't changed.

If you're desperate to get to your Web site files and this fix doesn't work, try using another FTP client, such as the command-line FTP in a terminal window (painful but effective), or Fetch (elegant but costs money). I do love Cyberduck, and hope this problem gets addressed before too many more users get turned off by it. As bugs go, one that tanks access to your Web pages immediately after an automatic upgrade is pretty severe.

Cyberduck prior to version 2.8.2 has written corrupted Internet passwords to the Keychain when running on Intel. Version 2.8.2 fixes this issue. However, you may still have to manually delete the corrupted entries using Keychain Access.app. This was noted in the release notes at http://version.cyberduck.ch/changelog.html

This sucks

I have been a Apple Power user since version 7 and have never had a need mess with my keychain. Flowing your companies horribly thought out advise and information I went to delete the info for one of the 8 ftp sites I use most often after accidently agreeing to this upgrade. The result was deletion of everything in keychain. EVERYTHING! Thanks Cyberduck. I know it is not your software, it is not your problem, but maybe some direction on how to delete only the relavent files would be nice. Now I have to spend the next few days trying to find years worth of passwords. :x :x

Oh yeah and it still does not let me login. Looks like it is time to find another, more stable, program.

I decided to login again, before I go to bed, because this is one of the only passwords I can remember.

Cyberduck has always worked the best for for me. No other OS X ftp software I have ever used works as good or consistently. The thing that pisses me off the most is I had no issues and did not need an update. I only wanted to keep it up to date. After Google searching I found no info on how to restore Keychain. Any help that the community can give would be awesome. I have no idea were to start finding the passwords I deleted.

Oh yeah Cyberduck is working now all though I can not login to my ftp as Admin because that info is only available from my host by request. I had to create another account to access the my ftp.

If you have 10.5 Leopard installed and Time Machine is activated, you can navigate to ~/Library/Keychains and recover the *.keychain file. Otherwise there is no way to recover accidentally deleted passwords from the Keychain I am aware of.

No 10.5 to many issues with all the software I have. I normally upgrade with much care and caution. This time I dropped my guard and got bit.

Hi!

Cyberduck has been great for me, no corrupted passwords or anything negative, but now after upgrading and loosing all passwords, it is safe to say this is one of the most irritating things that have happened to me on my computer!

Please delete this update before more people get burned or create a BIG FUCKING RED ALERT to BACKUP ALL PASSWORDS before agreeing on this update!

I had this error, too, and I resolved it manually as I describe below. But first of all, I want to remember to everyone that Cyberduck is a free software: this last one has been a bad update, it's true, but you can't get upset with the developer team because they do not make money with this little beautiful app.

To fix the login issue, do the following:

1- Open Keychain and delete the password(s) of your ftp site(s).

2- Open Cyberduck and select New Connection from the top menu.

3- Fill the form and enter username and password manually, without cut and paste.

4- Connect. You should see your ftp folders.

5- Click the + button to add this location to the bookmarks on the left.

6- Quit the app and reopen it.

7- Try connecting to the bookmarked location.

8- Now a popup window should appear, saying that in the Keychain there's not the password for this login: fill both username and password writing them manually, without cut and paste.

9- Repeat this last point if necessary.

10- When you connect successfully, the correct login infos are stored in the Keychain and the issue is fixed.

Ciao!

I deleted the keychain items, but that still didn't entirely resolve the issue. Most accounts logged in fine, one still didn't. I deleted that one from my favorite bookmarks list and re-entered all the info from scratch..then it worked.

I apologize if I sounded rude, I love the app and thank guys for doing the great job, it is just a pig problem that should of been apparent to a first user to acknowledge there is a problem and I would have been happy to be warned.

And I am one of those people, that cannot retrieve several passwords form anywhere and that is a big problem.
