Cannot upload successfully

Using CD for the first time. After uploading I get the encouraging message "Transfer complete." When I check my website URL I get a 404 - could not be found. What am I doing wrong?

Did you upload "index.html" or "index.htm"?

Are they all small letters?
It is not displayed that the capital letter has mixed only by the website URL.
Please change to the small letter if the capital letter has mixed, or input to the file name (precisely as for the capital letter small letter), and access the page.

I do not hit elsewhere.

It turns out that is not the problem. It was my SERVER, darn them. Got a new server (GoDaddy) and it works fine now. Thank you for all suggestions.
