External Editor Not Uploading changed file

Post by gbullman »

I've tried 2 different supported editors and have pretty much the same behavior.

I'm running the latest patch of Tiger (10.4.11) on a Dual G4 Power Mac.

When I select Edit in External Editor within Cyberduck the file comes up as expected in either MacVim, or Tex-Edit Plus. When I save the changed file in either of these editors nothing happens.

I'm expecting an automatic upload of the changed file, but that is not happening.

What is the messaging mechanism used between Cyberduck & these editors? Are there any logs that record this messaging activity, or any tools that would allow me to see why this is not working?

I'm at the latest Cyberduck build (2.8.3 (3388)) but have had this same behavior from about 2.8.1 forward.

I've tried rebuilding the application messaging with lsregister, but that did not seem to have any effect.

Any help as far as how to sort this out is appreciated.

I've just experienced the same thing for the first time, with the 3421 build, using Tiger (10.4.11) on a MacBook, and using Smultron as my editor. Actually, everything looks ok, except Cyberduck apparently doesn't always notice the changed file and won't upload it. This started to happen after a couple of hours of work. I lost some work before i figured out what was happening, but that was easily redone.

I've installed build 3425 now and at least it seems to work for now, but for all I know it might stop working at any time.

I guess more feedback on external edits would be a good thing. I know when I press command-S, so getting even a beep or a blink as an acknowledgement from Cyberduck would be good.
