Good grief: Software Updates Galore

Post by jsmith »

Just a suggestion:

Can you guys PLEASE turn down the frequency of automatic updates?? Everytime I start this damn program it wants to download yet another update!

How many updates do we really need? It's an FTP program. This seems like it should be fairly cut and dry.

If I choose to ignore the update, it quacks at me again shortly afterwards. I know I can turn them off in the preferences or ignore an update. I don't want to _completely_ ignore updates, though.

I'm just hoping theres some sort of balance that could be reached between keeping the software secure and up-to-date without having to download 10 megs every time I start the program. Maybe more minor releases could be an opt-in update?

I'm sure the developers think every update is important, but for the user that opens Cyberduck every few days to do simple FTP transfers, this is too much.

My two cents.

Can't win. Everyone reports bug's and somehow they need to be fixed and someone is doing it for free obviously. My two pennies worth.

@jsmith, maybe you should have done a little research first before you started to rant, there where quite a lot of users who had problems after the initial 2.8.3 update hence the speedy, and totally called for, latest update.
