burning desire to publish site; ignorance a large hurdle

I have never published a website. I've been working on this, (buying domain name, purchasing hosting service, building site with iweb) for about the last twelve hours. I'm using 4dwebhosting.com as my host and can't seem to get my site to come up. My ignorance towards web publishing is beyond description, I have, however downloaded cyberduck, but every time i try to open a new connection it tells me my authentication failed. Although to be totally honest, I'm not sure what I would do if it actually succeeded, I figure I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I really thought with my site already designed with iweb it wouldn't be too difficult to publish, but apparently I have either severely underestimated the skills required to launch a iweb site or severely overestimated my intelligence. Actually it's probably a combination of the two. Anyway, any and all advice would be indescribably appreciated.

I guess this happens when you use Cyberduck to connect to the hosting service’s server (the one that where you want to save your website files so that others can access it). Do you know if you use the correct protocol and name/password to connect?

There are different protocols, some servers only support FTP (File Transfer Protocol – which is unencrypted and therefore bad, because people may be able to spy on your password), others support SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol – which is encrypted and therefore good). In addition, Cyberduck also offers FTP-SSL (which uses an encrypted connection for the unencrypted protocol).

Are you sure that your name/password is correct?

Well, I was sort of confused about the username and password because when I type in the username, it adds it onto the address of my server, making it look like that is my alleged websites address. But I tried both my username and the actual address and neither seemed to work. The password is one that the host gave me when I signed up, that is the only one I know of. Thanks for the advice.
