1MB - is it MegaBIT or MegaBYTE

Greetings,

When using FTP and the upload shows "1MB/sec" is this indicating that the speed is 1 MegaBIT or 1 MegaBYTE per second?

Usually a capital B means byte, and if they're both capitalized almost definitely definitely byte unless someone doesn't know what they're talking about:)

when I just uploaded it was definitely KB = kilobyte, so I think it's safe to say MB = megabyte.
