FTP Address Validation - Pleeeeease let us turn it off :(

Whenever I type in an FTP address, Cyberduck starts validating it almost immediately. I type fast, but not fast enough to slip one by this hyperactive toy animal.
The moment I've typed a period '.', Cyberduck is off to the races, furiously searching for anything on the internet that might match that address, even though it's more of a sentence fragment than an address (google.)
After that, the Spinning Beachball of Death graciously volunteers to keep me company until Cyberduck returns, out of breath, to inform me (with a traffic signal) that 'google.' is not a valid FTP address.
This process repeats, with poor Cyberduck constantly trotting the globe, searching furiously for 'google.c' and 'google.co', before I can slow him down long enough to explain that I'm trying to connect to 'google.com'. A small fire is lit in his eyes, and he dashes off once again, except that this time he comes back in a matter of milliseconds (instead of seconds) and has no beach balls or traffic signs for me.
I appreciate the little guy's gusto, but I think it might be better if we gave him some ritalin - maybe make it so the address validation doesn't happen until the user has navigated away from the 'Server' field?
