One thing we've been thinking of is making it something unrelated (like Growl or Adium). One of the suggestions given on IRC on this unrelated idea is "Mico" meaning "to shine or sparkle", which I quite like. Also Stellans, and currently people are talking about variations on the name "Miriam", but I doubt that'll go anywhere.
btw, I do think InstantGamer is pretty good.

I thought Adium came as a spin-off from 'AIM'?Catfish_Man wrote:One thing we've been thinking of is making it something unrelated (like Growl or Adium). Current suggestion is Myko to avoid annoying the guys at http://www.mico.org
David Munch: indeed; it used to be called Adium CK, which was formed by rearranging the letters of "AIM Duck."
So far I like the InstantGaimer-related names as well as the idea of totally unrelated names (makes it sound more creative, less generic). Personally I think I need a break from iApp names. It's one thing for Apple to use them for their products, but when every other new OS X app (and even some totally unrelated products) on the market sticks an "i" in front of their name, it gets a bit excessive. But maybe it's just me.

We've pretty much decided on Myko. We'll do a bit more research to make sure it's not taken or anything, but it seems good. Thank you much, everyone, for you suggestions. Gaimer was particularly clever
We just felt that we wanted to be a bit more unique. Our IRC channel is now #myko, and we'll be moving other things barring some unforeseen problem.
