Could not send; a connection error occurred.

Post by Soosi »

This is happening nowadays a lot with MSN contacts. I try to message them but it usually returns Could not send; a connection error occurred. Any idea why?

Do your friends still get the message? What version of Adium, Mac OS X? Are you closing the window straight after sending the message?

This happens to me as well, usign the latest beta. I'm on 10.4.8 and not closing the window, it seems somewhat intermitent. I also use the latest MSN for mac on my iMac (adium on iBook) and it happens there as well, I guess it must be something to do with the MSN network, but I could be mis-remembering, I will try to make a note of when it happens next.

Same here, even with aMSN, it's more like a problem with OS X then?

More likely its a problem with the MSN network than OS X, but yeah. If its showing up in aMSN and the official MSN client then its not adium specific and there's not much the adium developers can do to help, unfortunately.

seem to remember a similar issue were this would happen if you closed the window too soon after you send the message. i think this has something to do with the client not making a connection to the server. Look at how Amsn does it, you cant send a message until the contact 'joins the conversation'.

I'm getting this error like every 5 minutes in the Beta. It's so frustrating.

I've heard reports from people under windows with this as well. server-sided, not adium

Seems to be server-side issues.
