Sync crashes
Sync crashes
Please help.
I've got a couple of sites that I always upload by using the sync feature. Today I did one sync okay, made some changes and the next time I tried to sync Cyberduck crashed.
In case it was a corrupt file in that site I tried it on the other site and the Duck crashed at the same place.
Any suggestions?

Hi michaelb,
the first step towards fixing crashing apps in OSX is always trashing the preference file.
You can do this by quitting Cyberduck and look for the file named ch.sudo.cyberduck.plist into your home library at ~/Preferences.
Trash it and restart Cyberduck.
Beware, you will loose your preferences so take note of them before trashing.
Alternatively you can move the file on the desktop and move it back if you didn't solve the issue.
But it should be OK now.

It started happening on my G4 Ti was well. I followed your advice the first couple of times and that got it working again but now I simply can't get it to work.
Thrashing the .plist file is doing nothing, Cyberduck always crashes after it has built a list of what needs to be synced and just before it allows me to click the sync button.
Help please.

I have the same problem.
Cyberduck is building the list of files that requires syncing. But before the list is completed CyberDuck crashes.
And trashing the preference file does not help.
(I haven't synced the last 8 months due to few updates, but then CyberDuck synced as expected. So I guess that the problem maybe related to version updates)

I'm also experiencing this problem
I downloaded cyberduck expressly to use it to do backups of my website; but while download works, sync does not. Sync gets to a very large directory and just hangs there.
Note that the large directory has well over 2000 files in it, I don't know if that's part of the problem or not.

Same problem here
Crash out on file sync started after I upped the number of files that needed to be synced. Trashing the prefs file is not a valid long-term solution. This is clearly a bug.
don't be evil
Forgot to mention
That I also had the odd side-effect of some (but not all) command key shortcuts stopped working after this crash- most notably the global ones like command-tab and command-shift-4...
don't be evil
I have had problems with command keys after this Sync crash too. At times I've had to restart the Mac. I thought the keyboard shortcut "command-s" might have had something to do with it so I've been using the menu command but the same crash occurs.
I now think it is related to the number of files. I've recently started a small web site, it is currently only a few pages of text only and a simple CSS structure. It syncs without a problem but the moment I try to sync one of my more complex site the Duck crashes again.
Today I can't get it to work at all, trashing the preferences file, reinstalling the Duck, nothing works it keeps crashing once the sync function has built a list of files.
I give up, I'm going to have to move to another ftp app.

Hello michaelb,
I am sorry to read about your troubles.
Try erasing Cyberduck cache folder it's in ~/Library/Caches/Cyberduck
Not sure if that can solve the problem but it won't harm either.
Unfortunately David Kocher hasn't shown up for a while.
Hopefully he will take care of these problems and possibly fix them in next release.
Don't give up

sync crashes
Yep, this problem start with the releases in the fall --- how many is too many, I think that it is round 50 to 100 files. I'm thinking that the code overruns an array. Here's what the consol log shows:
2007-01-25 21:30:58.284 Cyberduck[272] jobjc_mapObjects() collision, objc object 316d60 of type (NSPlaceholderArray) being entered for Java object of class (com/apple/cocoa/foundation/NSArray) in entry 1ac40110
2007-01-25 21:30:58.284 Cyberduck[272] existing java object's class is (com/apple/cocoa/foundation/NSArray)
2007-01-25 21:30:58.285 Cyberduck[272] no corresponding java entry! (did it get collected?)
ObjCJava FATAL:
jobjc_mapObjects(): mapping inconsistency -- hashtable entries are not identical
ObjCJava Exit
I like the code but this error is driving me crazy.

Hi there everybody,
I must confirm that this can be reproduced.
Today I had my first Cyberduck crash in months.
While synchronizing a fairly large folder, Cyberduck slowed down to a crawl until it disappeared, quitting abruptly..
No further info in a pop-up screen on re-opening.
Strangely, no recent entry in the crash-log but only in console.
The latest was referring to CD version 2.6.2
Similar to what is shown in previous post. Could this be related to the SIMBL.bundle?
BTW, if that matters, I also found many "can't cache image" errors...
The program is a joy to use but this must be indeed fixed asap.

I suggest you guys download the latest nightly and use that one.
I just synced a folder from the server containing 362 files (about 82 MByte) without a glitch.
Cancelled a few on both ends and repeated the process, which updated again perfectly well.
Seems like David was already taking care of the problem and I have been to hasty in opening ticket #1011.
Well done.

Just downloaded 2.7.3 on OSX 10.4.8, and got the same problem, it thinks about synchronising then disappears.
console.log says this:
2007-02-24 20:24:26.965 Cyberduck[3745] jobjc_mapObjects() collision, objc object 31aaf0 of type (NSPlaceholderArray) being entered for Java object of class (com/apple/cocoa/foundation/NSArray) in entry a8e21c0

ObjCJava FATAL:
jobjc_mapObjects(): mapping inconsistency -- hashtable entries are not identical
ObjCJava Exit
Any ideas or is this a bug - couldn't see anything similar in this issue tracker?
Some more info... expanding all the directories on the remote site reveals 263 files, however it successfully synchronised one top level directory containing 180 files.
Cheers
Iain
