meta contacts and the faq

I have searched and I can not figure out what meta contacts are, there is mention of getting info on a user and toggling a +/- button, none of which I see.

if I select help from AdiumX, I get sent to http://faq.adiumx.com/, which seems to be dead.

Can someone explain to me what these meta contacts are and what they are good for?

A metacontact is a grouping of several screennames into a single entity - so, say, your friend Bob's Yahoo, AIM and both his MSN addresses. whenever one / more than one of these addresses is online, only a single contact will show up.

It's useful for keeping your contact list clean and well-ordered.

And how do I set this up, and how do I undo it if needed. How can I tell a non meta contact from a normal buddy?

option+drag a contact upon the one to merge with. (Make)

It'll say "meta-contact" in the hover thing. (Tell)

Press "-" in the left drawer when you get info. (Undo)
