My buddies' icons don't show up

I've got Adium running at work and at home. At work, all my buddies' custom icons (avatars) show up on their names and IM's. At home, however, I only get the generic service icons for everyone. I'm pretty sure all my settings are identical. Am I missing something obvious?

BTW, I'm on Mac OS 10.4.8 on both machines...and running Adium 1.0b19 on both.

For what it's worth, I have this problem as well. I just switched from a PowerBook to a MacBook Pro; the former retrieved the buddy icons, while the latter does not.

What protocols are you using?

AOL/AIM and MSN. Behavior is the same for both accounts: individual icons show up on work computer, with only the generics at home. (Office is last year's iMac; home is G3 iBook.)

I'm using AIM almost exclusively, with one or two Google Talk contacts.
