Is there an Emotion tutorial?

Post by Calenulma »

Well, the topic says it all.
Is there any tutorial on how to create an Adium Emotion Pack?

Not that i know of, just these for other xtra types: http://www.adiumxtras.com/index.php?a=support

I'm sure no one will complain if someone wrote one though :)
Currently the easiest way is to look inside one that is already made.

Download one, copy it to the desktop so you don't screw up the other. It's in HOME>Library>Application Support>Adium>Emoticons. Once you get the copied file on your desktop you can control click or right click on it and select the command "Show Package Contents." In the package you'll find image files for the emoticons themselves and a plist file. Copy your own images into the folder, edit the plist file (its pretty simple to figure out), rename the package and upload it for the world to see.

So many Windoes years made serious demages to my brain.
I totally forgot about the "Show Package Contents". Shame on me!

Anyway, thanks a lot!

btw
I don't really want to create one on my own. I just want to edit so it's easier to type the codes.

Code: Select all

Something like ;) instead of ;-).

But you know that your chatpartner will have to use the same modified iconset? Otherwise the icons might not be shown properly on his end.

No worries. I only use the most common emotions like:

Code: Select all

;) :) :D :P ...
I have nothing but MSN contacts and so they shoul be able to see the emotions properly.
