corruption of display name for MSN

Post by drmoque »

Hello,

I am running Adium X 0.89.1 with MacOS 10.4.8. Every once in a while my display name for MSN gets corrupted and replaced with this:

<msnobj Creator="drmoque@hotmail.com" Size="12221" Type="3" Location="TFR2C2.tmp" Friendly="AAA=" SHA1D="sP7ticCsLIIwQsT+n84u/zvd

I did a check on the bugs report and found similar report. The advise was a) to fix it manually in the personal settings and b) try AdiumBeta

I know a) works because I have done it several time already.

So my question is whether it happens in AdiumBeta? Also is the beta version sufficiently stable to consider switching at this point?

Thank you.

It is fixed in 1.0 if I remember right. We're pretty close to releasing 1.0, so you can either try the beta or wait.

Indeed, it has been fixed in 1.0.

Thanks. Any idea when the beta becomes a full release?

Other than this minor issue of the display name, my install has been running pretty smooth on intel based macs. I have yet to experience any of the crashes mentioned by others.

I am inclined to be happy and wait it out but if we are only a short time away from release then maybe it is close enough to switch now.

Thanks for the answers.

While some users have problems with the beta, I think the majority of beta users are perfectly happy and consider it rather stable. I've been running it since before it was even in beta and haven't had any outstanding problems with 1.0.

It'll automatically update once the official release comes out, too, so if it fixes something for you I would reccomend upgrading.

I've had that problem one or two times with 0.89 (on my Intel Mac), I switched the Beta and haven't had any problems with it at all. I guess I'm fairly lucky :)
I find the Beta to be stable enough.
