Post by Amade »

Some people on my list can set offline status message, but I can't find enywhere option to tell Adium to show it.

Is there any option to view such status?

What IM service(s) are you talking about (AIM, MSN, Yahoo!)?

I use jabber and friends are using GaduGadu so I use transport.

No I don't want to use build in gadugadu support :)

This is the only thing that keeps me from using Adium instead of iChat.

Well, support through transports is always sort of iffy (example: file transfers don't ususally work).

If you have a gadu-gadu account, you could just set a standard one up in Adium (rather than using a transport)...

The problem is only that it don't shows status messages when users are offline :/

For sending files I rather like using mail.

Rewriting my contacts from jabber to gadugadu seems be a lot of trouble when you got many people in contact list.

Simply there is problem with offline statuses?

Forgive me here, I'm not that familiar with Gadu-Gadu or transports :P

But, correct me if I am wrong, contact lists are stored server-side, so if you log into your gadu-gadu account (without the transport) your buddies will still be there, no?

They are stored only on jabber server as transport accounts.

GaduGadu also stores them but first you must have them in...

And because I have never used GaduGadu (because it works only on Windows'es) i have all my contacts on jabber.

Ah, okay, I understand now.

Well, I doubt that the offline messages work through a transport (it sounds like you have used iChat for this, are they supported there?)

And I'm not sure if the libgaim implementation supports them either, so I don't know how I can help you here...

Have you tried logging in your GaduGadu account directly with Adium? I'm sure the transport saves your contacts on both servers, GaduGadu and Jabber. I have no GaduGadu account, but this is how all the other transports i used handle it. I don't see why GaduGadu should work differently. I actually think the transport has to save it on both servers, otherwhise it wouldn't work.
So why don't you just give it a try? You really have nothig to lose.

But... you say it worked in iChat? Maybe you disabled status messages in the Adium prefs. Are the Jabber status messages shown? If not, go to the Adium prefs -> Appearance -> List Layout -> Customize and there check "show status".

I've checked it is only stored on jabber.

No i don't disabled it. It is only showing statuses of people who are online or away.
