Trouble adding contacts/groups OS X - video included.

Post by ontology »

Hi, I'm doing a fresh install of Adium on OS X 10.4 and here's what's happening:

1. launch audium for first time
2. type in my .mac account info
3. create new contact, add a few .Mac/AIM contacts, assign them to the .Mac/AIM group

Problem: My Contacts pane is empty. It shows no groups, no contacts. No matter what I do, I can't get anyone to show up in here.

My login info is apparently fine -- it says I'm connected.

Happens even after I trash my Adium application support folder.

Here's a 3 MB movie showing what I'm doing and the results -- am I doing something wrong, or is this totally broken?

Are those contacts online? By default, Adium only shows contacts who are online, and only shows groups that have at least one contact online.

Ah, maybe they weren't online.

How do I change my preferences to show contacts who are offline as well? I find this difficult to deal with because (for example, this morning) I can't remember which contacts I already added, and which I still need to put in.

There really ought to be a way to retrieve your complete contact/groups list, even if the folks aren't logged in, yes?
