Feature/plugin suggestion: twitter mashup

Post by adamrice »

The whole concept behind Twitter seems to be very similar to that behind chat status messages. It seems like a natural to use status messages in Adium as a way to create Twitter posts.

Since this would be giving the status message, well, more status within Adium, I could imagine adding another pane to the main chat window to enter these status messages/twitter posts.

Anyhow, just a thought.

This is actually fairly easy already as you can use the TwitterAdium plug-in to set your status to your current Twitter message (using %_Twitter). Then you can keep a window open to the "twitterim" user on an AIM account (they also have Jabber equivalents) and any message you send to it (other than a few basic bot commands) will be posted as your Twiter status (and thanks to TwitterAdium, will also set your current status to that).

I should have imagined someone would have done this already. Thanks.

So change the code or contact the developer. We take no responsibility for external plugins.

I concur

I would just like to see the Adium status message automatically uploaded to the Twitter server.

Even further, I would love it if you could link twitter profiles to contacts. I fully admit that this is probably well beyond Adium's focus, but it would be pretty damn cool.
