itunes status changes too fast!!

Post by supersolenoid »

I know it's a feature not a bug, but the instant iTunes refresh feature is causing all sorts of trouble. I tend to skip tens of songs on shuffle really quickly, and because of the status update I am often finding myself booted by AIM for violating the frequency cap... Can you guys introduce a little bit of a delay? I dunno how many people are experiencing this problem, but I'd rather chat around my music and not music around my chat.

Great improvements in 1.0 though! Esp. custom emoticons!

The notifications are sent out by iTunes every time you change a track. The solutions are not using this status, or changing the way you skip music. That is just the way the status works.

Actually, while you've described the mechanism and side-stepped the issue, it's not accurate. A pause for updating could certainly be added if so desired, it's a matter of tracking how often the updates have occurred and if within a threshold, not doing the update.

Such a mechanism is already in place for the MSN Display name, btw.
