Adium X 1.0 not working

Post by ateague »

Help!! I upgraded yesterday to 1.0 and it is not working AT ALL. I was using gtalk and am using OS X v.10.3.9. I seem to be online but I cannot get it to see a single contact. I've tried re-installing, using "googlemail" instead of "gmail", changed the application name to "-old" in the library folder, switching to port 5223, etc. Any suggestions?? What am I doing wrong?

Are you using the gmail account type?

Yes. As far as I know--I have a gmail account and started a new gtalk account in Adium. Is it common to have problems w/gtalk in this latest version?

My account works fine.

Specifically what I asked is, when creating the account, did you select "Jabber" or "Google Talk"?

Try the beta for 1.0.1 at beta.adiumx.com

If it still doesn't work, we'll be able to get better logs as to why.

Can you log in at gmail.com and then use their web client, or use their windows client?

My gmail webmail works perfectly. I think that's what you're referring to...

I think he means the Gtalk web client. It doesn't work in Safari, so you'll have to log in to Gmail with Camino or Firefox. Make sure "standard with chat" is the selected Gmail view (look at the bottom of the page).

Or the Windows client at http://www.google.com/talk .

Thanks for the suggestion. I logged in to gmail using firefox. The "standard with chat" view was already selected. My contacts are visible here but show up as offline even though I know they are online.

Ok...this is beginning to drive me crazy. I've tried the downloading beta v.3 and even going back to .89. All my contacts still show up as offline. Am I missing something obvious? Is there some setting somewhere that might be causing this?

It sounds like this problem has nothing to do with Adium. What I would do is delete and re-add the contacts using the web client (with Firefox, log in to your Gmail). Once they show up properly in the web client, Adium ought to show them properly too.

Are you certain the contacts are Gtalk contacts? Only "xyz@gmail.com" contacts will show up.

Yes--I'm 100% positive my contacts are gtalk. And they worked fine until I uprgraded to 1.0, so it sure seems like the problem has something to do w/Adium. And to make things stranger...suddenly one of my contacts is now showing up and working without me touching anything. Maybe it is now working...
