Going away with screen lock

Post by cheesy »

There was a thread about this on the old forums but the question doesn't seem to have made it over here.

Will Adium 0.8(ish) support going away when the screen is locked/screen saver activates? I'm fastidious about locking my screen when I step away from my desk and would love if Adium could flag me away every time I do so.

Adium .80 will support "set yourself to <status>" after <n> minutes of inactivity. That should do it, ya?

That's not quite the same. I lock my screen whenever I get up from my desk and I'd like Adium to mark me as away when I do that. That's somewhat different from going auto-away or idle just because I have not touched the keys (which is probably because I'm talking to someone at my desk).

This seems to be a pretty common feature in an IM client and Adium already does (did?) something similar for fast user switching. I also remember one of the devs saying it was pretty easy to poll nsWorkspace (?) for this and he would probably do it for 0.8. It may have been the tick, but I'm not sure.

At any rate, I'd love to see that feature (optional and with a configurable message) and I remember that a bunch of other people were interested at the time too.

I'd like this feature, too. I don't want Adium to automatically set me "away" after a certain period of time... say I'm at my desk, but reading documentation. I would like it to set me "away" if I lock my screen, which I do when I'm leaving my desk.

Thanks

Jason
