For some reason, every time I open Adium or every time it reconnects about 100 little dialog boxes rush my screen that say:
Buddy list synchronization issue in mabramsky@mac.com (MSN)
_______@hotmail.com on the local list is inside the group "Individuals" but not on the server list. Do you want this buddy to be added?
Yes No
I get one box for each contact in that group. I only use Adium for MSN and I've never used, and have no need for groups, but can't seem to get rid of the two it seems to have given me arbitrarily (Individuals & Other Contacts). How do I get rid these annoying boxes? Is there a preference I'm not finding for turning of grouping contacts by group whatsoever?
Otherwise...AMAZING program. Rock solid on my older TiBook and making all my Windows friends super jealous.

Yes i have a similar problem sometimes.. I think after a few times it went away. I think it first happened straight after I ran MSN for Mac to look at something. It appears to be a problem around the groups function and is really weird because it appears that it means it changes the list on the server but then at next startup it is not changes :S
Just wait a few days and see if it still happens

I'm having the same problem... I don't know how to fix it, but I'm pretty sure I know why it happens. This might not be exactly why it's happening to you, but it'll give you a place to start:mabramsky wrote:For some reason, every time I open Adium or every time it reconnects about 100 little dialog boxes rush my screen that say:

When you rename a group in Adium, you're actually just giving it an alias. If I have a group named "Friends", and I want to rename it "Enemies", it doesn't actually rename it.
What causes the issues for me is when I mess around with things using the actual MSN client. I renamed a group in MSN, which caused havoc on the Adium side of things.
How to fix it? I dunno... I figure there's a way to rebuild your contact list locally, but I've yet to figure out how. That'd solve the problem, IMO, beacause it would have to re-read the group names. Maybe I'm just missing the thread that tells me how to do that.
This is MSN's fault. I just tried deleting "Individuals" in the MSN client. You can't. You can't rename it either. Apparently MS knows better than you what you want things called.mabramsky wrote: rid of the two it seems to have given me arbitrarily (Individuals & Other Contacts).
