Plugin Idea: Facebook Integration

Just had a plugin idea for Adium, but since I have no idea how to program, I thought I'd share it here. Since Facebook allows you to search using IM addresses, it'd be cool to have something that would search Facebook for the IM of everyone on your contact list, then replace their name and profile picture with the ones from Facebook.

Don't you think if they wanted their profile picture to be the same as their facebook picture they would set it?

I think this is a neat idea; in fact, I already tried to write it once. Facebook didn't provide access to IM information through their API. This may or may not have changed.

Looks like they still don't. Have you emailed their dev team? I did once a long time ago about something unrelated and got a personal response in pretty short order... though they were much smaller then.

What exactly does the facebook api provide? it will be cool to have facebook automaticaly set the status that you currently have on adium.

I'll love to see this on a plug-in... or maybe in adium itself
