Fire.app closes shop

Post by Ethion »

Seems like Fire.app has died.

Long live the eight year old app.

Oh well :(

Two of the devs have jumped ship to Adium though, which is no bad thing :)

Indeed. Many of the recent file transfer and dns lookup improvements are Graham's doing.

This is something that's been in the works for months now. I'm glad that both Alan and Graham have decided to join up with us.

Fire was the first multi protocol client that I used. Sad to see it go, but I guess it will be remembered with a good memory :)

Definitely in the nostalgia archives

I also want to extend my kudos for the Fire developers – their app changed IMing for me and I was saddened when I left Fire to start my affair with the duck.

Great, most excellent & wonderful to hear that some of the devs have joined the Adium team! :)

It's nice to hear about the collaboration. Fire was a nice app, too.

I am very very sad about Fire, but it's encouraging that two of its developers have now moved to Adium.

I guess I will use Fire until it no longer works, then switch to Adium. I have fiddled around with the Adium settings, but so far can't get the really plain, texty effect that I like with Fire. I guess more skins/settings will come over time.

Congrats to Adium anyway for getting these two Fire people. Let's all hope for a very successful collaboration.

There are contact list and message window configurations that are even more "texty" than the default Fire look... I'd recommend starting a new thread with a screenshot of the look you're going for and seeing if some of the awesome Adium community folk can't help you configure Adium to look similarly. :)
The duck still burns.

So I assume you're going for something minimal? A short search at adiumxtras.com gave me these two:

What do you think?
