Switching From Fire to Adium

Post by Black Six »

As mentioned here, work on the Fire IM client has been stopped. I'm very sorry to see it go, as it had a lot of nice features.

I had been a user for a while, and recently switched to Adium. That said, on Fire's site they mention that Adium can import your information from Fire on its first launch. Does anyone know if there is a way to manually initiate this as I started using Adium before production on Fire stopped?

Thanks.

Though we're going to have a way to bring up the importer without it being a first-launch situation at some point in the future (as well as add importers for coming from other clients), there's no way to do it at present within the app.. but it's easy to trick Adium into running the assistant.

1) Quick Adium
2) Move ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/Accounts.plist to your desktop
3) Run Adium. Import time!
4) If you want to restore the accounts as you had them configured before, move the file from your desktop back to its original location.
The duck still burns.
