Some more questions

Post by nickphil »

Ok at the moment I am wondering two more things:

1. Does Adium have a video/talk chatting system thing? If it doesn't are there hopes for it in later versions?

2. If you make a new screen name is there any way to "copy" your buddy list from your old screen name and "paste" it on your new screen names buddy list. Groups and Contacts all the same?

P.S. Sorry for probably the dumbest questions

There is no real easy way to do this. If you are talking about with AIM, you probably just want to use the official client to export the buddy list, and then reimport it onto the new account, then sign into adium with it.

How would you export and re-import it?

In the official AIM client (which I am assuming we are talking about since you did not mention otherwise) there is a backup/or export menu command. If you do that on one screen name, then reimport/open with the new one it should do what you are asking.

Yes I am talking about AIM (sorry I didn't mention that).
So where are these comands? I can't find them anywhere in the preferences or menu's. Am I just not looking in the right place?

Using AIM 4.7, see File > Import and File > Export.

I would like to add if you happen to also use msn, microsoft messenger 6 can save your contact list and import it to a new account. (never tried it though)

Oh you have to use AIM for Mac to do it?
There isn't a way to do it on Adium?

No. That is why we mentioned "the official AIM client." Adium does not have this functionality at the moment.
