sound notifications and status pics

I have a couple quick questions. Tried searching, but didn't see what I was looking for.

1) Is there any way to change the general sound notifications so the only sounds are incoming and outgoing messages? I know I can do this per user, but that would take quite awhile.

2) I swear I did this before, but can you change the status pics on the buddies list, or is that done per skin.

I don't think you can in the current version but in 0.8 you will.

1) Choose the Contact menu and select Show Info...
2) Double click Contact's image.
3) Customise away.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I have a feeling there's a preference which could disable this because they're using the image from the user's address book.

go to Preferences: Sound
and select the sound set Custom ...
this bring up a dialog box that lets you set the sounds as you want from each action individually (this is in 0.77 but has existed before this aswell)

To slightly expand on this, since there's no "None" option in the pop-up, you can just delete the actions that you don't want sounds for.

He means the status icons (which are only the red/yellow/green gems in 0.77), not contact icons. They can be modified in 0.77 by editing the individual icon image files within the Adium.app package. There are instructions on how to do this bundled with several of the contact list themes on adiumxtras. In 0.8 there will be double-click-to-install icon packs similar to other xtras.
