Menus Gray, No default Window, and Unknown class in nib file

Post by bgoodin »

When starting Cyberduck I do not get a default window and the menus are all greyed out. Looking in the logs I have found the error that is displayed at the bottom of this post.

I have checked and tried several things to resolve this:
1. Made sure there are no specialy characters in my installation path. My installation is in the /Applications/ folder
2. I deleted all Cyberduck dmgs, applications, preferences, and caches. (.//Library/Caches/Cyberduck , .//Library/Preferences/ch.sudo.cyberduck.plist, etc...). I also performed a find as root to be sure i got everything.

Code: Select all

find / -iname "*cyber*"
3. I reset my Java.Preferences to use various orders of choosing a JVM to see if that would get CyberDuck started.

None of these things have worked. I'm out of ideas and now I'm just using command line ftp which works fine. But, gosh, I'd love to have the Cyberduck sexiness back. Does anyone have any further suggestions on what may be going wrong here?

I'm using Cyberduck 2.7.3, Mac OS X 10.4.9 on a Mac Book Pro Core 2 Duo.

Code: Select all

Refer to http://trac.cyberduck.ch/ticket/694. I have not yet found the cause of this issue.

I figured I'd post this because I discovered the solution when fixing another issue. Sometime back I had changed my /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current symlink to point to /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5. The 1.5 folder does not contain the Cocoa binding headers that are needed for apps like CyberDuck. After I changed the /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current symlink to point to /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/A, all is well again.
