Increase in number of files in Adium 1.0.1 vs 0.89

Post by drmoque »

Hi,

I am trying to isolate a the inability of my Portable Adium 1.0.1 build to auto-update. As part of that process, I was copying both version 0.89 and 1.0.1 to my flash disk. I noticed that while the files sized was perhaps 5 MB larger for the version 1.0.1 the time to copy the 1.0.1 was considerably longer. I suspect that is mainly due to the speed of my flash drive.

However to confirm my diagnosis, I was wondering if someone on the Adium team could verify if the number of files that make up the application increased in version 1.0.1.

If there are a lot of small files, it would definitely explain the slow copy speed to my flash drive.

Thank you.

cd into Adium.app

ls -alR | wc -l

That should give you what you need.

Oooh....Cool litte command. So for posterity here is what I got when I ran it.

For version 0.89, 6879
For version 1.0.1, 8512

Thanks for the help. Answers my question and explains the slowdown for me at least.
