I like the "Add to address book" feature, I already used it for the few contacts that were in my IM list and not in my address book.
But for one like me, who already have hundreds of people in the IM, and hundreds of people in the address book, a "matching" feature would be more helpful, being it pseudo automatic or manual.
If the manual is chosen, clicking this new "match in address book" item will open a box with your address book item and let you choose one of them.
In the automatic version clicking this menu item it will look for a "matching" name in your address book (e.g Alias == first + last, Alias == nickname, Alias == last + first, Alias = first + middle + last, Alias = last + first + middle and so on).
Apart adding a feature to Adium, do you have knowledge of any utility to merge address book items when they are already in the contact list?
