SMS on Adium?

Hi, I would really like the feature of notification of new events thru SMS, is that possible? Also does Adium support sending text messages to phones inside US, if that is the case, how do you do it?

In Adium .8, events will be handled by Growl. Go over to the Growl forum (on this same site!) and see if you can trick someone into creating a SMS plugin…

Surely the prob with this would be that the SMS services generally cost money so it would be very expensive after a few messages a day for a while.

Using AIM, send a message to the phone number, starting with +1, like +12035551212

Does this service work out of the US yet? Cos i tried that in Australia and obviously it failed. I would need a different prefix but it doesn't seem like its supported.

aim sms only works here in the US. it doesn't even work for all carriers here. i can't send sms messages to sprint pcs users. im thinking no one else can. i may be wrong though.
