0.77 Crashing, having a nightmare

Post by AquilaEagle »

Here is my story

Installed 0.77 - fine
Tried to move contacts to different groups - lost lots of contacts
Added them manually again, sorted
Upgraded to 0.8b3 - much better
Next day 0.8b3 kept crashing on Adium starting up
Downgraded to 0.77
Now it keeps crashing when i go into Preferences and click on my MSN account.

I've reported these with the crash reporter thing, but never get any answers etc - what happens to those crash reports?

AIM - EagsUK

I'm getting seriously annoyed with Adium, but I'll stick it out and try it - as i love the interface and the program, I'm no quitter like I have seen posting here, and i appreciate what you guys are doing :)

Delete the .plist files in ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default User.

Many things in .8beta are not compatible with .7x.

If you just delete the .plist, Adium will create a new one upon restarting it

Thanks, seems fine now :)

Question is, should i risk trying to upgrade to 0.8b3 again?

Anyone know when 0.8 final is due? or b4?

I think that's going to have the same answer as was given before the betas: "when it's done".

Incidentally, we DO read everything that comes to the bugs@adiumx.com and feedback@adiumx.com addresses, plus all of your crash logs submitted through the Burning Duck of Doom. But we literally get thousands of crash logs, so we can't reply to them all. :)

my 0.77 has also gone insane today... crashing as soon as I try to write a message, and often crashing when I get one from an MSN user.

Not sure if it's related to todays security update which has fubar'd my safari install as well (see macupdate.com for a few tales of woe about it)

I've deleted .plists and tried all the fixes I can think of, to no avail.

I feel strangly out of touch with the world !

.77 is going to continue to crash for you. You've got an AIM buddy who has invalid HTML in an away message. Anyways, the .8beta will not crash in this manner.

i'm guessing i have a buddy who does as well.. or something. since it starts crashing in the afternoon, and stops in the evening. or at least, it did yesterday... i'm willing to change to .8 beta, but i don't know very well how to fix things, such as my message window being screwed up..
