Increase text size during typing?

I just recently made the switch from PC to Mac and installed Adium.

Is there anyway I can increase the text that I'm typing? Normally, when you increase the text you are typing, the other person sees your text bigger and I don't want that. My text would be too big. I want to KEEP my outgoing message to be size 10, but the text I'm actually typing, i want to be 14.

Not sure this will help but it could be worth a try. Go to preferences>advanced. Select messages on the left. Under message display there is drop down box that says Minimum font size. Try changing that to 14 pt and see if that helps. It may look like everything is 14 pt. You may need to check with a friend that it is working the way you want. i.e. whether the outgoing is still 10 pt.
