Emoticons in chat window?

OK, I'm new to Adium (and Mac for that matter). I love Adium, but that bar above my chat windows is now gone. The little lock, the emoticons, things like that. Any ideas?

In most Mac apps that have a standard toolbar (like Adium, Mail, and many others) the "pill" button in the upper right of the window shows and hides the toolbar.
