Can't turn off GMail notification?

I use Adium to talk on GoogleTalk. In the Preferences->Accounts->(myaccount)->Options tab, the "Display new email notifications" is greyed out, but checked. So every time I get a new email on GMail (which is often), I get a new little popup box telling me so. This is new behavior with Adium X 0.89.1 (on 10.3.9) and it's driving me batty. Any suggestions?

Why are you still using 0.89.1? Maybe you should update to the current version 1.0.3. Possibly unchecking the option will work with that.

Fair enough. Upgraded to 1.0.3. No change.

What you're seeing happens when you have a Google Talk account entered as a Jabber account (this was before there was a separate Google Talk account type).

Simply re-add the account as Google Talk and you'll be able to uncheck that box.
