Direct Connect / File Transfer improvement timeline?

Post by Daveecee »

Is there any kind of expected timeline as to when Direct Connect and file transfers will actually be usable? I know Adium claims to have some support now, but File Transfer still doesn't work very often, and Direct Connect never works for me. I have opened ports, etc., but no change. It's odd, because my computer requests a connection up to 30 seconds after I attempt to send an image, and a minute later tries through a proxy server, but either way they never get the image.

There's no explicit timeline. This is dependent on improvements within our underlying library - libpurple.

It's been improved in 1.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, and 1.0.3. For most people, it's pretty reliable these days.

On a related note: is there a way to auto-accept said direct connections? I hate having to click "Connect" every time. And seeing how Adium DOES auto-accept file transfers, it would only be reasonable to do the same for direct connections, aye? Maybe I just overlooked a checkbox or something...

I seem to recall Evan making a change for 1.1 so it'll auto-accept direct connect requests from people on your list.
