Choose Address Card...

I find that if I'm interested in integration of my Address Book app with Adium I must add the contact in Address Book.app w/ their IM info not v-v. If I add a contact in Adium it seems there is no way to "Choose Address Card…" associated with it, a feature I like in iChat.

When I:
1. Add Contact in Adium
2. Add IM info in Address Book.app
I am getting the contact double listed in Adium rather than consolidated.

Basically, does anyone know how to better integrate these two staple apps?

I don't use the option "write to address book"
That way the link only exists if adium can read from adressbook.

What you describe is also what I do, and it works like a charm!
