Slow file transfer

Post by Bootliner »

It seems very strange that the filetransfer in Adium (MSN) is so slow, compared to the speed I get if I use microsofts MSN messenger. How can that be?

Apparently Microsoft uses some sort of proprietary technology or somesuch that inhibits unofficial MSN clients from utilizing something-or-other which affects something. Or something like that. Either way, I believe any client that supports MSN will behave this way (other than Microsoft's clients, obviously).

Actually, the NEW MSN for Windows supports direct file transfers from computer to computer. The old way (which MSN for Mac still has) required the file to go through MSN's servers, which slowed things down. Since only MSN for Windows has this spiffy new technology, we're stuck with the older, slower way.
