I keep getting:
Could not connect to authentication server:
Socket is not connected
How do I fix this?

Chances are, if you're experiencing this error, you're behind some kind of firewall or something is blocking the connection. The AIM server also responds on port 80; try changing the port you connect on to 80.

How do you switch the port to 80? I've tried for hours and cant figure out. Help!!

Adium > Preferences > Accounts > Double click your AIM account > Options > Port: 80
