Autohide on message window

Post by soulcreeper »

Is it possible to also make an option in the preferences to make the message screen auto-hide on inactive?
actually the same effect as is already possible for the contact-list. but i found myself desiring the same effect for the message-window.

hope this is an option you guys would seriously consider ;)

What you can do is go to "Preferences -> Advanced -> Messages" and check the "Hide while Adium is in the background". That way whenever you "cmd-tab" or hide adium, the msg window will be hidden too. There's a similar preference for the Contact List. Maybe these things should be grouped ?

Hope this helps,

Martín.

They are already grouped by their respective function.

this is an option to do this yes, but i would also be nice to have the same effect as the contactlist when you CMD+TAB. Like a kind of curtain open and closing (in my setting the contact list is right of my screen and the messagewindow to the left.)

AH, ok, I understand. You like the fancy roll-left animation xD

Sorry, I never tried that (until now). I rather prefer the "do it fast" option to Hide when in background. :)

But tastes are tastes…

I doubt we'd ever do this. We'd welcome patches though. :)

autohide toggle

Post by jaycrouch »

Was just about to open another topic - then saw this thread.

Regardless of the animation factor talked about above, I would REALLY love to see an autohide toggle button added to the messaging window.

I know, I know: auto hiding is already supported via the preferences panel... but toggling that setting frequently is a big pain in the ass. For example, most of the day I'm doing normal chatting and like autohidding on... but then I'll get a specific message with information i need to reference for a while.

So, I have to go up, turn autohiding off, and then set the window above all others. -then when done, i have to restore the settings.

How about we add a 'pin' button to the toolbar that temporarily sets the message window to non-auto-hide mode and z-order above all others... unclicking the button restores whatever was there before.

Can't be that hard right, i mean the settings and behavior is already there... and would really make my experience WAY more effective!!!
