I launched Adium X (1.0.5) this morning and got the following popup:
The Yahoo server has requested the use of an unrecognized authentication method. You will probably not be able to successfully sign on to Yahoo. Check http://pidgin.im/ for updates.
Whaaa???
Everything seems to be working fine, though.
Where did this message come from? And how do I kill it?
Adium uses libpurple as its connection library. libpurple is also used by Pidgin. That might just be an error message from libpurple that gets displayed in Adium, too.
Okay. Cool.
So...assuming libpurple is at fault, how does one go about fixing it? Obviously, I can connect to Yahoo just fine, despite what the error seems to warn. I looked around at pidgin.im but nothing obvious lept out at me.
My OS X and Adium versions are also 10.4.11 and 1.1.4, respectively.
The error message that I am receiving is as follows:
"Unknown error number 1. Logging into the Yahoo! website may fix this".
And, unlike the case of others who are reporting here, my installation of Adium is NOT logging onto any of my Yahoo accounts, nor am I able to do so, except when using Yahoo Messenger.
Now I get both messages, the pidgin one and the Unknown error that Carnivean has. And can't login any longer
The same message tells me that I'm trying to log in to Yahoo Japan? I had to reinstall Adium about a month ago after my Mac crashed and I don't think I ever logged in to Yahoo Japan before that.
