A New Kind of Sticky

Post by alexius »

Stickies are great for running away from your desk a minute, but get to be a but annoying once you're back.

Why not an option to auto-remove stickies after a set interval of returning to a non-idle state? I'd love the option to be able to sit down, glance at what I missed, and let them disappear a few seconds later.

Thanks!

We are trying to avoid needless complications and additional preferences. This smacks of 'smart' behavior to me and trying to guess what's appropriate or making a user fiddle to get the 'smarts' right isn't very good IMO. The best solution (also IMO) is to just visually look them over and Option click the close widget to close all notifications.

I most definitely understand where you're coming from, I vehemently detest complex preferences, and I agree about the cumbersome nature of "smart" behavior. So you're right about my own situation.

But here's a thought:

Let's say my good ol' mom sits down at my long-idle computer. There are twenty boxes that she doesn't know the nature of, doesn't know to option-click, and just begins surfing recipes. A somewhat odd situation - perhaps I shouldn't enable stickies in the first place, but perhaps it isn't overly 'smart' to just get rid of these after 30 seconds. Isn't that at the very least a worthy option?

Thanks for your time!
