Keeping people not on your list from contacting you.

Post by Cyberpawz »

I get spam from dozens of messengers not on my list from Yahoo and ICQ, is there a way to stop it? I thought there was an option to only let people who are on your list to contact you once, but I don't know if that has has been disabled, or even added into the later versions of Adium.

If so the security feature seemed to be disabled, because I seem to get people contacting me about bigger breasts and better porn sites all the time.

That is exactly what I have already done about a month ago. I'm still getting those dammed messages, either its not communicating with the said servers it needs to or its just an annoyance right now.

I have this turned on as well and have been getting such messages, except from AOL and now MSN Messenger (which I could have sworn only allows people on your contacts list to send you messages and forces this server-side, at least it used to). I've tried trashing all my preferences etc. and setting it up again, I've been getting 10-20 messages a day like this so I'll re-post if it continues or if it solves the issue.

Hmm, completely re-installing Adium seems to have got this setting to actually work now. Surely it would make sense to put this feature in the preferences somewhere rather than a separate entry? And by the sounds of it, this option can be set individually for accounts, so why is it not under the Privacy tab of each account?
