Randomly logs out and back on

Post by ravenhart »

I have the newest release of Adium, but this version is acting glitchier than the previous version.

Adium will randomly log me out of all of my IMing services, then log back in a moment later. This does not appear to be connected to anything I do with the program, it just does it occasionally, but has been known to do this several times in one day.

Are you using Leopard? I am, and I've had problems staying connected to the internet (and chat programs) for awhile now. Adding OpenDNS to my list of DNS servers helped a bit, but I'm hoping if 10.5.2 is released tomorrow it'll fix the problem for good.

If you don't use Leopard, then I'm afraid I've wasted your time. Sorry. :) Hopefully someone else can help you.

I am, actually. I didn't realize it, but this did start after I installed Leopard.

I guess I'll just wait for the right update.

Thanks!

Same problem - i get disconnected and then signed back on

I recently upgraded adium to version 1.2, but if possible, i'd like to return the version that existed right before this. How can I do this? The reason I'd like to return to the prior version is because ever since i downloaded adium 1.2, I am constantly being disconnected and then immediately reconnected to the internet. My friends who I am chatting with do not detect this, and so to them it is as though this is not happening. But for me, this is very annoying since my friends will IM me, and then I will not receive their IMs for the window of time that I am disconnected, and then when I am immediately reconnected, I have missed what they've said.

this issue did not occur with the version preceding this one. How can i revert back to it?

I don't use Leopard, I dont think. (What is Leoard?)
Thanks!

Leopard is the latest version of Mac OS X (10.5). Odds are if you got a computer recently, you're using it.

Hm, I don't think my OS is that high, and also I got my computer a little over a year ago...do you think that is recent enough to still be Leopard? And how can I resolve this problem?? Thanks!!!

I am using Adium 1.2 and 10.5.1.

This is a long shot: I am getting the random disconnect/connect issues, but more importantly, ever since I got Leopard with a new iMac I have had intermittent Mail and Adium problems - and they are getting worse. There is a lot of chat abut Mail 3 problems on the boards, but none that I can find relate to it being intermittent; some get fixed and some not.

If I remember correctly it was fine to start with, but increasingly IMAP would not connect, and now while I still get that intermittently I am also getting SMTP not connecting and when that happens IMAP is OK. Mail suggests from time to time that I uncheck SSL, but it makes no difference.

I also get intermittent problems with Adium [no error messages], and MSS itself is a complete no-no.

Yesterday I could not get onto OxMUG list at Yahoo and one other site as Safari said it could not find the server groups.yahoo.com [but it could find other Yahoo groups]. All other sites were OK. It is now the same, except it can't now find Yahoo at all, tho my old G3 iBook with 10.4.11 has no problems.

It can't be my mail provider as it works fine on web mail and my iBook with Mail 2 has no issues on any count. All settings came over via Migration Assistant and, as I say, are OK intermittently. Both iBook and iMac are using the same wifi router.

Any ideas before I eBay my iMac?

Cheers, Colin
