ADIUM 1.2.4 >>> BREAKS <<<< ICQ COMPLETELY!

Post by radfactory »

Guys, seriously. My Adium was just fine until I updated. Now I can't use ICQ!!!!!!!! It connects and logs out immediately! Seems I am not the only person with this problem, and its effecting AOL too! This is 100% a 1.2.4 issue - how can you break it like this??

Works fine here for both ICQ and AIM.

Both ICQ and AIM(2 accounts) logged in and working fine for me. I'm using Tiger 10.4.11.

I've downloaded version 1.1.1 and this fixes the ICQ problem for now.
You can get the older version here:

If you're seeing this problem, please help us fix it by providing more information rather than going back to a previous version.

See http://adiumx.com/faq/CurrentAdiumDebug for a debug version, then show us the debug logging of attempting to connect and failing to do so with your ICQ account.
The duck still burns.

I have the log and have sent you a PM.

My friend and I seem to be having an issue with ICQ and Adium. I recently changed to a different AIM screen name and added his ICQ account to my contacts list via AIM. He now gets an authorization request every time he logs into Adium, even though he has since removed my new screen name from his contact list and I have removed his ICQ account off my contacts list. It has gotten to the point where he has disabled his ICQ account.

Can you please advise?

Thanks!

Please see http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/CurrentAdiumDebug to get the debug version of 1.2.4 and follow the instructions at http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/ReportingBugs to give us the details of your problem.

This same thing is happening to me. I didn't know the back story behind it all, but one day I got an authorization request from one of my existing friends (from the same screen-name), and from then on, I have received an auth request EVERY time I login to my ICQ account. I have alot of contacts on my ICQ account, but I am very close to disabling it due to how extremely annoying it is getting. Someone needs to fix this, or add an option. How about fitting this in to 1.3 instead of pushing it back to 1.4?

Giving up on shitty ICQ is the way to go.

Yeah, how about yourself? Maybe you'd like to dedicate your precious leisure time to fixing bugs in open source, free software?

I guess you are referring to #8137. Adding "block authorisation requests" to privacy settings isn't a quick fix. 1.3 is in a beta stage so I guess you'll just have to wait.
