sounds good!

Post by FredAkbar »

Just wanted to say that I'm really excited about this wiki-style documentation coming to Adium. I love the idea of wikis and am interested in being able to edit or contribute to an Adium one. I'm looking forward to this. Any idea when the documentation will be up and running? Finally, will it use the http://adiumdocs.synapse.id.au site that tedger PMed me a little while back? It seems like there have been various attempts at Adium documentation and I think one of the most important things is that we have a single, unified, official documentation.

we are actually going to be starting fresh with a Wiki through our current subversion hosting... We need to that to get up and running, but once it starts we are looking to get going. I know that i have less than one month left of classes, as does tedger, so around that time it should start to take off...

No we aren't using the old wiki, thanks synapse for hosting it, but this will give us much greater bandwidth, and a server with some more umph. Right now we're waiting on Evan to set up the wiki on one of Adium's hosting providers.

How about copying some of the content from synapse's wiki into the new wiki once it's created? synapse's has some pretty good documentation so it seems like it would be worthwhile to copy over some of that stuff rather than writing it all over again.

Plus I just made like five changes to synapse's wiki and I don't want it to have been for nothing ;).

obviously if there is good information we wont throw it away, but also there have been many changes, and there are many changes still to come... obviously, this will be much easier to figure out once we get started and have something going...

Once the new one is up we'll work on transfer things, but I'm going to see if we can get the old one shut down for updates for now.

i got a question... help viewer displays quicktime movies so you think it would be usefull to add screen movie capture shots(dont know the right term for this just know snapz x does it) as a demostration of what to do or is this just useless?

Whatever we add increases the size of adium too. No movies.

if there is a feature complicated enough to warrant a training video, it wont last long anyways. Snapz also is not free, and doesnt get to the source of what we really want.

We've got trac up and running... just need to get trac.adiumx.com to point to it and get authentication working and we'll be good to go :)
