Any way to display contact with "[FirstName] [LastInitial]"?

I am wondering if there is a way to display contacts like "Joe S." instead of "Joe Schmo" while still pulling names from the address book, so I don't have to change them all manually. Thanks.

Preferences->Advanced->Address Book.
