LibGaim

I keep seeing libgaim mentioned a lot, what is that?

Why is it important to Adium?

This isn't going in the help viewer docs, so verbose can be done here.

libgaim is the code that Adium X is based on. It is the code that the popular windows/unix IM application gaim is written around, and it is what enables our support of all the protocols that are currently included.

libgaim is not written by the Adium team, but by those at http://gaim.sourceforge.net/ *. Adium is the graphical front end to that code, implementing the powerful features of libgaim into a user-friendly Mac OS X application.
