GrowlMail Notifications

Post by jay »

Apologies if this has been answered before ...

Using Growl 1.1.3 ... and GrowlMail ... when the notification window appears ...

Is there a way to actually delete the email about which the notification is showing by using the "X" on the notification window?

When clicking the notification window at the moment, it only closes the notification and doesn't delete the email (that I no longer want). Is this possible?

That's because the X is a close box.

If you want to delete the message, click on the notification anywhere but the X. This will open that message in a new window in Mail. From there, you can delete it.

Thanks - yes, I realise that it will open Mail when I click on the notification, however I was hoping that if I didn't want the full email (that is, the summary tells me enough to know I want to delete it), then it would be good if I could delete the message without opening the email.

That's beyond Growl's scope. Growl is simply a notifier, and it doesn't provide any functionality beyond that. The most it will do is take you to the subject of the notification (in this case, the email message), where you should be (in this case, are) able to take any necessary actions upon it.

I installed GrowlMail, clicked the Mail app in the Growl applications. But it now tells me that it is not compatible with OSX 10.5. whatever. So what's going on?

Try the 1.1.4 beta (which I just put up today).
