I have an old iBook G4 with Tiger (latest version). As it was starting to perform badly, I decided to reinstall the OS by using the "install and archive" feature, so that it would reinstall my System without affecting applications.
In fact, Cyberduck is the only application that was affected; I had Cyberduck 3.0.1, and after the reinstall (+ combo update to bring it to 10.4.11) it wouldn't start any more - when I launched it, the icon appeared in the dock but then disappeared after a few seconds.
I tried to reinstall Cyberduck anew, by deleting it from Applications and even manually moving away the Cyberduck dir in ~/Library/Application support, but it still failed.
I had an install DMG for the old Cyberduck 2.6.1, I installed that and it works fine. But if I let it self-update to 3.0.1... it fails to start again.
Does anyone have suggestions about what to do?
Should I open this as a bug report? It looks like Cyberduck doesn't install itself very cleanly, or maybe there is some file installed somewhere else that I need to remove. Or is there a log file where Cyberduck at startup could be writing what is going wrong?
Thanks,

Re: Cyberduck 3 won't load after reinstalling Mac OS X
Solved: after the reinstall, OS X only comes with Java 1.4, while Cyberduck 3 requires 1.5 (J2SE 5.0). Running again Software Update from the System Preferences, OS X installed J2SE 5.0; I could then install and launch Cyberduck 3 without problems.
